I forgot to tell you about the opening of 'Seventh Skin'- a wonderful exhibition curated by Claire Anna Watson at Hatch Contemporary Arts Space as part of the City of Banyule's Art and Cultural programs. The opening was last night and featured a gorgeous opening speech by Assoc Professor Robert Nelson ruminating on the various layers of skin- our own, the skin of our landscape and site, and including some pointed commentary on current urban planning trends in his usual entertaining and lucid manner.
Kudos to Claire for an innovative program that includes artist-in-residence John Gosper who is making some beautiful wearable textiles (am hoping to have a play in them soon), a fun dress-up opportunity in Poli Papapetrou's witty photo booth, and an education kit featuring questions for young children on the works. I love the activity accompanying my video Untitled (refrain) (2013)- 'Have you ever done something in secret that was fun? What was it? Create a drawing of the event and share with a friend.' The exhibiton runs until the 2 August.
